Isolated Personages Gallery
video installation 1998

Description:
A number of white shirts are hung up across a dark space (the exhibition
space) at different horizontal/vertical positions. Video projector is set
in front of the shirts so its projection covers the shirts area and the
white shirts are used for projecting images, instead of using flat surface.
The projected moving images are again 10 human bodies, wearing white shirt.

Concept:
My intention is to implant into the sterile gallery space (public space)
personal statements (sacred space) from the distance of time and space. The
white shirt is used here as a metaphor for the representation
of the body - individual in the social space. Individual as a blank page on
wich The Media, The Institution, The Power project their fictions.

Video:
Interviews with 10 persons. To everyone of them are given a questionnaire in a
visa procedure-like style:
· Who you are (full names, date and place of birth)?
· Background; Education; Professional experience; Current occupation?
· Where are you living at the moment? Are you satisfied with your way of life?
· Do you imagine (dream) yourself like somebody else, in different
geographical, cultural, social, physiological situation?
Etc. After video shootege, the all personal stories-sequences are edited in in
one screen as:
· Visually every of the projected persons is moving from one to another
shirt - body.
· Audio - all stories are mixed in 2 channels track becoming one nonseparated crowd of voices
